Ben Marshall admitted it's been 'difficult' being frozen out at Wolves – but feels Millwall is the 'perfect fit'.

The 26-year-old utility man has joined the Lions until the end of the season on loan where he'll link up with former team mates George Saville and Jed Wallace.

His last Wolves appearance came almost three months ago with Marshall not a part of Nuno Espirito Santo's plans.

He said of the past few months: "It's been a bit difficult watching on the sidelines, but that's football.

"Wolves have brought some really good players in and the lads are doing fantastic – sometimes you've just got to hold your hands up.

"I've been keeping myself ticking. I've not played and training wise at Wolves I've just been running, but I've spoken to the manager (Neil Harris) and discussed that I need a bit of fitness work and a few minutes, but hopefully it shouldn't take too long for me to get going."

Marshall joined Wolves from Blackburn for £1.5million exactly a year ago today, signing a three and a half year deal.

He added: "I'm really pleased to put pen-to-paper. It's been a long time since I played and I wanted to come and get some games. Millwall was a perfect fit," he said.

"The philosophy here is to work hard and the manager has had a good chat with me. It's good to hear and I can't wait to get started."

His new boss Harris said: "Ben's a really good age and has been frustrated with his lack of opportunities at Wolves.

"His pedigree is huge. He has experience at this level and his assists and set-plays will be key.

"I see Ben as something slightly different to what we already have. He's certainly a crosser of the ball and played 30-odd games at right-back during his career at Blackburn – the versatility is there."
