Charlton Boss Karl Robinson admits Michal Zyro's injury hell helped him sign Wolves attacker

Charlton Boss Karl Robinson has admitted that he wouldn't have been able to secure Michal Zyro's loan signing had he not struggled with injury at Wolves.

The Poland international left Wolves for the Addicks this month on a temporary deal as he struggled to work his way into Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season.

Before Nuno's arrival he suffered a serious knee injury against MK Dons, the side managed by the now-Charlton boss, missing over a year of football.

However, Robinson believes that Zyro was only available to him because of that injury.

"This one has come about because he had an injury," he told LondonNewsOnline.

"There has got to be a reason why we have got someone of this quality."

“Where Wolves are right now means they are shopping in a different league to anyone else in the Championship. The players stopping him coming through are top, top Premier League players.

"We were lucky. I’d like to thank Kevin Thelwell and David Manasseh [Zyro's agent] at Stellar, who have worked really hard on pushing this deal towards us.

“He’s big and powerful. He’s a striker but can play a little off the right if he wants, he played off that side when he was at Legia Warsaw. He came to England more as a striker to go down the middle.

“Trying to find one who is over six foot tall, talent and has athletic capabilities is very, very difficult.”

Zyro could make his Charlton debut tomorrow, as they travel to Blackpool in League One. His Wolves contract runs until 2019.
