Former Wolves boss Paul Lambert bookies' favourite for Sheffield Wednesday post
Former Wolves and Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is the odds-on favourite to take over as Sheffield Wednesday manager.
The Scot is now as short as 1/5 with some bookmakers to replace Carlos Carvalhal, who joined Swansea following his sacking at Hillsborough.
Lambert was sacked from Wolves in May after guiding them to a 15th placed finish in the Championship last season, having taken over with the club in 19th.
The former midfielder was in charge for just 33 games at Molineux, winning 14, drawing five and losing 14, recording a win percentage of 42.4 per cent.
He was replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo following his sacking, who has since masterminded Wolves climb to the top of the table.
Lambert's previous spell at Villa lasted less than three years, whilst he guided the club to survival twice, he was eventually sacked in February 2015 with the club 18th in the Premier League.
Steve McLaren, Andre Villas-Boas and Claudio Ranieri are also being linked with the vacant Owls job.
Lambert was previously one of the leading names for the Nottingham Forest post, but has fallen our of the running - with Aitor Karanka being heavily linked with the job.
