Ivan Cavaleiro’s seventh goal of the season was enough to earn Nuno’s men an eighth win in nine games, which saw them pull them further clear of their rivals.

But the boss believes his team still has room for improvement.

“We don’t look at the league table,” said Nuno. “We look at how we want to proceed and be consistent in our work.

“It is a good moment for us let’s enjoy it. The team is growing. The players still have space to grow and get better. That’s what we are going to do.

“Teams are trying to adapt to us and we have to find solutions. We will look to find them in every game. It’s possible.”

Cavaleiro took advantage of a rare moment of hesitancy in the Ipswich defence to fire home the only goal at a sold-out Molineux, five minutes before the break.

Barry Douglas, Helder Costa and Romain Saiss all went close to extending the lead late on.

But for the third time in four games, one goal proved enough for Wolves, who are still to concede in the month of December.

Asked about his team’s defensive record, Nuno replied: “It begins from the front. The way we press, the way we react, the way we are in shape and control the opponent.

“It was a tough game. We knew before the game Ipswich would be tough. We anticipated and prepared well.

“Now it’s time to recover from this game and enjoy our Christmas.

“We will be back to work to prepare for Millwall and we will be ready.

“We knew the schedule before the competition started and we have prepared well. A 46-game season is a hard competition but the players can do it – and even more.

“It requires a lot of hard work. We still have space to go even better.”
