Wolves midfielder Romain Saiss heading to World Cup after Morocco win
Wolves midfielder Romain Saiss has helped secure Morocco's passage into next summer's World Cup, following their 2-0 win over Ivory Coast.
The midfielder, who was played at centre-back for his country, played the full 90 minutes as Morocco claimed victory to send them to Russia next year.
The African nation have now qualified for the tournament for the first time since 1998.
Saiss joins Alfred N'Diaye in helping his country to the competition's finals, after his Senegal side also secured their spot over the weekend.
Meanwhile, defender Matt Doherty was an unused substitute during the Republic of Ireland's 0-0 draw with Denmark in the first leg of their World Cup play-off.
Aston Villa midfielders Glenn Whelan and Conor Hourihane both made substitute appearances in the draw, whilst West Brom winger James McClean started for Martin O'Neill's side in Denmark.
They now face a crunch clash on Tuesday at home in which they could book their passage to the international tournament.
