Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has called for his players to control their emotions in the heat of today's West Midlands derby.

Steve Bruce's Villa are the visitors for the teatime clash at Molineux.

It's Nuno's first derby in charge of Wolves – but he wants his team to treat it like any other match.

"You have to control your emotions," Nuno said. "It’s a derby, it means a lot to our fans.

"It doesn’t mean we have to run more – because we already run a lot – it means you have to control your emotions knowing that what you do on the pitch is going to impact on the people around.

"Focus on our tasks and do your job.

"The table doesn’t mean anything, it’s a derby which means a lot to us.

"I’m aware (of the importance), the first thing you have to do is realise what it means to Wolves and the fans. We can promise we’ll fight, like every game, and play football."

Wolves came unstuck against a physical Cardiff team earlier in the season, which led to one of only two defeats so far.

Nuno believes his team have found a solution to combat an opposition who tries the same approach.

"From Cardiff we knew what happened and tried to find new solutions," he said.

"We have found new solutions. We carefully analyse Aston Villa and pass that information to the players.

"I can tell you, we are ready to play.

"(Villa) is a good team, they’re on a good run with an experienced squad and coach.

"Every day is a good day to grow. It’ll be a good challenge for us.

"We expect a full crowd, a supporting crowd, that goes along with the team for 90 minutes.

"That’s what we humbly ask of them.

"There's nothing different in our preparation or the routine – always the same, every game is important.

"Enjoy the game, this is the most important thing. Full crowd at Molineux, our pack and us fighting until the last minute."

As for his experience of derby matches, Nuno said: "A lot of derbies, all different. This will be a different one. A derby is always a special game."

And on his most hostile derby, the head coach added: "A lot, many. It’s hard to tell, different situations. Every derby is different."

Barry Douglas is available to play again after missing the 4-0 win at Burton before the international break.

Willy Boly, who's been absent for seven weeks with a hamstring problem, is back in training but not yet ready to feature.

Nuno said of his international players: "Everyone came back okay, fortunately. There were different situations, different minutes, some players are back and we have a lot of options.

"Willy is coming back but he’s not 100 per cent for the game tomorrow. Barry is available to play."
