Carl Ikeme is an 'inspiration' for Wolves says Nuno
Carl Ikeme has been hailed as an 'inspiration' for Wolves by Nuno Espirito Santo.
The popular goalkeeper is currently undergoing treatment for acute leukaemia after being diagnosed last month.
A series of fundraising events are happening today including the climax of a 24-hour penalty shoot-out at Molineux, a collection for Cure Leukaemia ahead of the game against Middlesbrough and a 10-mile walk with a number of fans walking from Cannock to Molineux.
Nuno said Ikeme's diagnosis was like a 'big punch' to the club. But he said the 31-year-old was an inspiration for players and fans alike.
"What happened with Carl was a big punch for us," Nuno said. "But the same moment, we know Carl, we know he is a fighter, a big man, his character says he is going to get through this.
"So we expect Saturday to have the Molinuex supporters shouting out loud his name, for all the family who will be there.
"Carl is with us every day. He definitely is an inspiration for the boys."
Nuno will today unveil his new-look team as Wolves' eagerly-awaited Championship campaign gets underway.
Wolves will play 3-4-3 and adopt what Nuno hopes will be a fluent passing style.
The new boss said of his ideas: "It is a new philosophy. It is all about the vision you have for the game.
"If you think you want to control the game through possession, we have to work harder on moving the ball around, creating mobility, creating lines of passes.
"At the same time be organised in defence, be able to control the chances. It is all about an idea of a team who want to control a game through possession but at the same time be organised in defence.
"My focus is only on putting players, trying to make players do what is better for them in terms of their characteristics on the game."
