Wolves produced a succession of chances in a one-side pre-season encounter at Molineux but had to settle for a 1-0 victory thanks to Ivan Cavaleiro's stunning second half strike.

With just a week to go before the Championship season kicks off against Middlesbrough it was an ideal way to end their six-match friendly campaign which has included four wins and two defeats.

Douglas said: "I think there are a lot of positives we can take from that game.

"If you look at the way we did play football it clicked today. That's come from the encouragement of the gaffer telling us to be brave and take risks.

"We know we're going to make mistakes but that's football.

"He wants us to get at teams. Leicester are no mugs, so there are a lot of positives.

"Hopefully we're ready for next Saturday. It's another step in the right direction.

"We've got another week to prepare, we'll look at this game and keep doing what we've been doing."

Douglas was a contender for man of the match with an accomplished display on the left flank.

Fellow new signings Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves also impressed, as did captain Conor Coady whose near-faultless centre half performance including a goal-saving clearance from a Jamie Vardy shot.

Douglas believes Wolves' style of football suits the squad that Nuno is putting together.

"You look at the calibre of players we've got...they're top players," he added.

"We're all buying into the way the gaffer wants to play, I think you saw that today. We played some lovely football and that's going to be the way we'll play this season.

"We're being encouraged to get on the ball and be brave.

"I think it suits the squad we've got so hopefully we can do well and challenge for the high-up places.

"The gaffer wants me and Doc (Matt Doherty) to play so high. It's a bit of a shift! But it's good, it suits our style and the players we've got."
