Wolves close in on signing Barry Douglas
Wolves are edging closer to landing Barry Douglas with Celtic understood to be out of the running to sign him.
The Scottish left-back, who plays for Konyaspor in Turkey, is on the verge of making the switch to Molineux for a fee that's believed to be around £1million.
It's thought the finer details of the deal are now being ironed out and if all goes well he's likely to be announced as a Wolves player before the end of the week.
Despite the lure of possible Champions League football with Celtic for Glasgow-born Douglas, Wolves have been able to offer a better financial package and regular first-team football with the prospect of a push for the Premier League this season.
Douglas, aged 27, began his career with Dundee United and has since played for Lech Poznan – where he won the Polish title and played in Europe – and Konyaspor where last season he won the Turkish Cup.
His capture would mean Wolves have signed an entire new back four in the space of a month, after Ghana right-back Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, 25, Portuguese centre half Roderick Miranda, 26, and 27-year-old free agent Ryan Bennett, who left Norwich City at the end of last season.
Captain Danny Batth, England Under-21 internationals Kortney Hause and Dominic Iorfa, 2015/16 player of the season Matt Doherty and academy graduate Ethan Ebanks-Landell are Wolves' other first-team defenders.
The latter is expected to soon join Sheffield United, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season with the Blades winning the League One title.
