The 22-year-old shot-stopper will spend the season with the Robins – a club he's previously been on loan with.

Flatt, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for Wolves, signed a new 18-month contract in December.

He is fourth choice at Molineux behind Carl Ikeme, Harry Burgoyne and Andy Lonergan, although the latter is expected to depart this summer after being told he can leave.

Local lad Flatt enjoyed a hugely successful 10-game loan with Cheltenham at the end of the 2015/16 season, helping them win promotion to League Two.

Last season, after briefly appearing as an unused substitute for the first team owing to injuries, he was loaned to National League side Barrow where he played 22 times.

Flatt told Cheltenham's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted to be back. Everybody knows what it meant to me to be here last time and the opportunity to come back was a no brainer.

"I've had many conversations with the gaffer (Gary Johnson) – he's ambitious and it's nice to feel wanted. When i was here last time I made lots of friends and have kept in touch with them over the last year. They became friends for life and hopefully we, and the new players who have joined since then, can progress up the league together.

"The manager says he's got confidence in me and now it's up to me to do my talking on the pitch. I've had some hard times over the last year but I'm glad now that I'm here and I can't wait to show the fans what I can do.

"We've seen recently how good this club can be on a roll with the fans behind us. If we can all unite again I'm feeling very good about the season ahead."

Johnson added, "I'm very pleased to have Flatty back. He was a great character in the group and was also a popular figure at the club. He was a big part of our promotion.

"He's gained more experience since then and I feel 100 per cent confident that he's ready to perform in the league."
