The 25-year-old defender yesterday became the club’s third signing of the summer when he agreed terms on a free transfer from Eintracht Braunschweig and wasted no time in setting his sights toward the top flight.

Ofosu-Ayeh is hoping to follow the footsteps of Michael Hefele and Chris Lowe, two players who played a key role in helping Huddersfield win promotion after moving from clubs in the German Second Division.

He said: “I want to achieve what Huddersfield have achieved this season. The emotions of that play-off final were amazing.

“Last season (at Braunschweig) we missed out on promotion through the play-offs. This season I want to go up and this is my goal here.

“What I see here now, for the first day, it’s amazing and I think that this club deserves to play in the top division and we have to prove this throughout the season.”

Ofosu-Ayeh, who is predominantly a right-back but can also play in central defence, has followed Ryan Bennett and Roderick Miranda to Molineux, as Wolves have spent the early part of summer bolstering their defensive ranks. He will officially join Wolves on July 1 when his contract with Braunschweig expires.

Born in the German town of Moer, Ofosu-Ayeh has been capped once by Ghana and spent his entire domestic career until now in Germany.

Injury restricted him to 41 appearances in two seasons at Braunschweig but he is confident of being able to stake his claim in pre-season, believing the physical nature of the Championship should suit his game.

“My pre-season starts now because I was injured – I will get fit for pre-season and aside from that I have to see the city and everything else – I’m very excited.

“I’m not scared to move to a new country. I have seen every part of Germany so now it’s time for a new country and I’m just excited to get started.”
