It is the first time in three seasons Wolves will begin the campaign with a home fixture and heralds the start of a testing opening fortnight, which then sees them then visit Derby on Saturday August 12 and Hull – another of the club’s relegated from the top flight last term - on Tuesday August 15.

They then return to Molineux to host Cardiff on Saturday August 19, before finishing the opening month with a trip to Brentford on August 26.

Wolves host their first West Midlands derby of the season when they welcome Villa to Molineux on Saturday October 14, with the return fixture taking place on March 10.

Nuno’s men meanwhile head to St Andrew’s to face Blues on Saturday December 2, with the return taking place on Saturday April 14.

A busy Championship Christmas schedule sees four fixtures packed into the space of ten days.

Wolves begin the festive period by welcoming former boss Mick McCarthy and Ipswich to Molineux on Saturday December 23.

That is followed by a Boxing Day trip to Millwall and an away game at Bristol City on Saturday December 30, before a New Year’s Day clash against Brentford at Molineux.

After a tricky start, Wolves’ finish to the season is no less testing. Their final home fixture is against Sheffield Wednesday, beaten in the play-offs the past two seasons, on Saturday April 28. They then close out the campaign with a long journey to Sunderland on Sunday May 6.
