The 26-year-old Portuguese centre-back last night completed his switch from Primeira Liga outfit Rio Ave for a fee thought to be in the region of £2.5million, penning a four-year deal.

Miranda, a client of Jorge Mendes, is also well-known to Nuno Espirito Santo having played under the new Wolves boss at Rio Ave.

And he is hopeful of enjoying success at Molineux after describing the move to England was a dream come true.

“I’m very happy and I want to help the team to achieve it’s goals,” he said.

“It was an easy decision to sign for Wolves - it’s a big club in the Championship, it’s a club with big ambitions and I’m a player with big ambitions so it was an easy decision.

“I’m very glad and I’m very excited to get started and I’m very happy to be here.”

Miranda, who stands 6ft 3in tall,  began his career at Benfica and played for Portugal under-20s before joining Rio Ave in 2013. There has been speculation in the Portuguese press that he could be made Wolves captain next season, replacing Danny Batth.

He added:“This is perhaps one of the best leagues in the world so to be a part of this league is a dream - I want to help Wolves to be as high as possible.

“With the team, I want to achieve the goals of the team - perhaps to go to the Premier League, to finish as high as possible in the Championship and to win as many games as possible.

“Individually, I want to continue to grow up like I have been doing and I want to improve myself, that’s most important.”
