Wolves bid farewell to backroom staff following Paul Lambert's departure
Three members of Wolves' backroom staff have left in the wake of Paul Lambert's departure - and the future of goalkeeping coach Pat Mountain is also in doubt.
First team coaches Stuart Taylor and Rob Edwards have gone, as has long-serving head of sport science Tony Daley after 10 years at the club.
Mountain is in discussions over a possible academy role but won't continue as first-team goalkeeping coach.
Sporting director Kevin Thelwell said: "Although everyone at the club will be looking forward this week with the arrival of a new head coach and backroom team, we should also pay tribute to those who are leaving after giving many years of loyal service to Wolves.
“Paul and Stuart have shown great commitment and professionalism during their spell at Wolves and Tony, Pat and Rob the same for many years in their respective roles at the club.
“Tony and Pat in particular were a part of the senior staff which secured promotion to the Premier League back in 2008/09 – and then stayed in the top flight for three seasons.
“The fact that they have remained at the club through so many ups and downs, and worked with several different managers and head coaches, is testament to their ability and the regard with which they are held.
“In Pat’s case, we are currently in discussions about him taking up a goalkeeper coaching role within the academy, but however those talks develop, his contribution within the first team set-up – as with Tony - should rightly be commended.
“Rob’s role with the academy proved key in helping develop some of the young players who have since gone on to grace the first team, deservedly securing his own promotion, and he showed a great professionalism and approach when taking temporary charge of the first team last season.
“We remain very appreciative of the work carried out by all those staff who are leaving the club, and wish them every success in their future careers.
Edwards spent four years at Wolves as a player from 2004 to 2008, making more than 100 appearances.
He returned to Wolves at academy under-18 coach in 2014 before being promoted to first team coach under Kenny Jackett a year later.
He survived Jackett's sacking and indeed was made interim boss when Walter Zenga departed last October, overseeing a defeat to Derby and a draw against Blackburn.
Daley was also a Wolves player for four years, from 1994 to 1998, although his time was blighted by injury.
He took up a backroom role in 2007 and has since headed up the fitness and conditioning programme and spearheaded the club’s development in sport science.
Taylor was brought in by Lambert last November and leaves after just seven months.
