Helder Costa to miss Wolves' end-of-season finale
Helder Costa has been ruled out of Sunday's end-of-season final against Preston at Molineux.
The £13million record signing is still suffering with an ankle injury and hasn't yet trained properly since limping out in the warm-up ahead of the 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, seven games ago.
Supporters will fear they've seen the last of the Portuguese winger, who is will attract plenty of attention in the transfer market this summer.
Andy Lonergan and Matt Doherty could feature against Preston though after returning to training.
Lonergan, who began his career at Preston, has been out with a back problem, leading to youngster Harry Burgoyne deputising for the past two games.
Doherty limped off during the 0-0 draw with Blackburn but is also back in training.Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, though, is ruled out.
Lambert said yesterday: "Andy trained this morning so we’ll see how he is. Carl won’t be available. Andy, we’ll see.
"Doc’s done a wee bit this morning, the first time he's been back since Blackburn.
"Helder tried it again, but it looks as though he’s going to miss it. It’s a shame for Helder but you can’t risk him.
"The ankle’s still giving him bother and he’s not done anything for four or five weeks now.
"Even if he was fit it’d be a big ask to put him in with no training. He’s doing better than he was when he first got it."
