Paul Lambert: Wolves didn't do enough

Paul Lambert admitted Wolves didn't do enough to beat Blackburn in a 'really poor' game at Molineux.

Wolves' first shot on target didn't come until the 94th minute in a dire match.

Blackburn threatened sporadically but chances were at a premium for both teams and there were boos at full time.

Lambert said: "I thought the game was really poor. There was a dearth of chances and we fell below the standard we've set for the past 10 games.

"In February we'd have lost it. (The positives are) we got a clean sheet, the usual stuff, but we never did enough to win the game.

"I'm never one to rest on anything - you keep carrying on to try and win games.

"Maybe it needs a bit of freshening up, this team, which I will do for Tuesday. I think we need freshness into the team.

"We should have been more clinical, we got into good areas but didn't take responsibility. We tried to look for that pass or make ourselves look good....just pull the trigger."

When asked if he could brush today's game off, or look more into it as poor player mentality, Lambert answered: "Probably the latter.

"The intensity wasn't there. You can get games like that where you go out and think you've got someone else's legs on.

"The pleasing thing is we never lost.

"If you go on the run we've just been on next season, we'll not be far away. If we don't have February, or what happened at the start of the season, you'll be in the mix for it.

"I just looked at the stats, we didn't do enough. You don't win games like that. It's the first time I've really come away and thought we weren't at it."

Would Lambert have made changes to his XI, in hindsight?

"Not really, I thought the team that won at Leeds deserved to go again," he said.

"I try not to have any regrets or they can get you down. I just didn't think we did enough today."

Danny Batth again missed out, as did Helder Costa, while Matt Doherty went off injured in the first half.

Lambert added of the trio: "Danny has trained the last few days but with Mike coming in and Stears and Kortney coming on at Leeds and doing well I didn't think I needed to change it.

"Helder tried it yesterday. We'll have to see how he is.

"It looks like Matt has done his hamstring. If it's pulled or torn we'll miss him for the rest of (the season).
