Wolves sell 11,000 season tickets and announce new Molineux video screens
Wolves have announced they've sold 11,000 season tickets - and will introduce two new video screens at Molineux next season.A new PA system will also be in place and a Carling Fans' Zone is to be unveiled in the Stan Cullis stand.
Managing director Laurie Dalrymple has unveiled the raft of improvements as Wolves edge nearer to the 16,500 season ticket figure that will trigger a partial refund for every buyer.
Supporters will get between £59 and £119 back if 16,500 are sold before May 31. The cheaper 'Early Bird' price is available until 5pm on Monday and around 4,000 current season ticket holders are still yet to renew.
Wolves are well on course to sell far more than this season's final season ticket figure of around 13,500. They sold 10,000 'Early Bird' tickets last season.
Dalrymple said: "We’re hugely appreciative of all the fans that have made that commitment so far.
"It’s really encouraging that represented within this figure is a strong proportion of new season ticket holders.
"Of course, we rely on our existing season ticket base to renew and a lot of them do, but also over 20% of the season ticket numbers for next season are new applicants.
"I am the first to admit that the season has been frustratingly inconsistent, however, I think what we’ve seen in the last couple of games has been more of a true reflection of where this squad can go, and the ability within the team.
"I’m extremely hopeful that we will continue that form for the rest of the season and beyond. The message is now to just get behind the team for the remaining games of this season and see where we can go."
Molineux's old video screens, which were installed as part of the stadium redevelopment in 1993, have been defunct for more than 10 years.
Fans have long called for them to be reintroduced. Wolves had catered for new video screens in their ambitious stadium rebuild plans, first mooted in 2010, but that masterplan remains on hold with only the Stan Cullis stand rebuilt.
The new screens will be 30 square metres and in place for the start of next season, as will the Carling Fans' Zone in the Stan Cullis stand, designed to attract more fans to the ground early before kick off. Music and comedy could form part of the fans' zone
Dalrymple added: "Like many of our fans, I travel on the road to every away game, not only to support the team but I’m also taking a look around and seeing how other clubs are doing it.
"If we’re being honest I think that we've fallen a bit behind the curve in terms of matchday entertainment and our matchday experience.
"I’m pleased to say that at the last board meeting, I sought the approval to make some significant investments into our great stadium and what we can do here on a match day.
"We want to encourage fans to get here earlier and experience a really positive vibrant, lively matchday experience."
The club are also asking fans to produce designs for flags to be used in the stands at Molineux. Designs can be emailed to fans@wolves.co.uk
Half a dozen flags have been produced by Wolves for Saturday's match against Cardiff.
