Nouha Dicko plans to repay Wolves' faith
Wolves striker Nouha Dicko plans to repay Wolves' faith in him - after signing a new three-and-a-half year contract.
The 24-year-old, whose previous deal had 18 months left to run, has now spent three years at Molinex.
He remains a firm fans' favourite despite not finding the net since returning from a cruciate knee ligament injury in October.
And he has earned regular praise from boss Paul Lambert for his performances up front. The striker is confident the good times will return – and hopes to help fire Wolves to the Premier League.
"I'm glad the club showed great faith in me – I hope that I can pay them back on the pitch," the Mali international said.
"I've been here for three years now and my time has been really good - some really good times and some tough times. That's how life is really, I stay positive and I believe the good times are coming.
"When we got promoted (in 2014) the club was flying. I think in that season we broke some records, it was really amazing.
"I joined in January and for the next four months it was really good.
"The season after, everything was good again and as I said, I've had some really good times here and I can't wait to have those days back.
"I am confident, we have some really good players including me. We have some good players, we have a good team and I think we can do really well."
Despite a recent improvement in performances Wolves are 18th in the Championship table and closer to the relegation zone than the top six.
Dicko, though, is convinced Wolves are a club on the up – and that his goals will soon return.
"Everyone around the club can see us improving - the team spirit is here now, we've managed to build one," he added.
"We have some games in the league that we can win and I think anything is still possible.
"I try not to think too much about it (not scoring). I just need that little bit of luck really and maybe sometimes I need to do the right thing.
"As a striker, of course you need the goals but before that you need the opportunities and I've had them so I don't think I'm too far off.
"I will get there but it is quite frustrating to have this long spell without scoring.
"As I said, tough times make you grow so it's a lesson for me and hopefully after that they are no more.
"It will come, I am confident, I am feeling good, I am fit and that was a really big thing for me to stay fit for all of this time.
"Hopefully, I can get that goal and then I can look forward to the other things coming up."
And of Dicko's ambitions for where he wants to be in three and a half year's time, he added: "Premier League, top four maybe!
"Who knows, you have to keep believing in football and that's the beauty of it.
"Premier League would be quite good, yeah. I think that's what everyone wants here and hopefully we will do it."
