Carl Ikeme's suspension reduced to two games following Wolves appeal
Carl Ikeme's ban has been reduced to two games, following an appeal from Wolves.
Ikeme was shown a straight red after being judged to have fouled Norwich's Wes Hoolahan and then pushing the midfielder to the ground during the 3-1 loss at Carrow Road.
Wolves were forced to put Matt Doherty in goal following the Nigerian's sending off as they had used all three substitutes.
The ban was originally three games in length, but will now be dropped to two games - meaning the shot stopper will miss the FA Cup clash with Liverpool and the league game against Barnsley.
Wolves' claim that the standard punishment would be excessive was upheld but the claim of wrongful dismissal that, if successful, would have avoided any ban, was rejected.
FIFA guidelines state that a push to the chest warrants a yellow card, and Wolves were hoping that this along with Ikeme's glittering disciplinary record would have seen the ban avoided.
The ban leaves Paul Lambert with a choice between Andy Lonergan or Harry Burgoyne to play in goal for the next two games.
