Wolves striker Paul Gladon 'not up to speed'

Striker Paul Gladon isn't 'up to speed' for Championship football, boss Paul Lambert has stated.

The Dutchman, who moved from Heracles for £1million last summer, hasn't appeared for the first team since September.

He made three scoreless appearances up to that point but didn't sufficiently impress previous boss Walter Zenga.

And now Lambert has criticised the 24-year-old – who scored a hat-trick for the under-23s against Norwich recently – for 'not doing enough'.

"Paul Gladon isn't fit enough and hasn't done enough to force my hand on that," Lambert said yesterday.

"I don't think he's up to speed for this division.

"It's a league where we've got to go Saturday – Tuesday – Saturday – Tuesday."

Lambert held meetings with sporting director Kevin Thelwell and Fosun supremo Jeff Shi this week as he eyes up targets for January – and decides which players he will look to move out of the club.

Meanwhile the Wolves boss has been handed a fitness boost with the news that Mike Williamson and Joe Mason have been pencilled in for Monday's under-23 game against West Ham United at Telford.

Centre-half Williamson hasn't featured for a year with hamstring and tendon injuries, while Mason has been out since October with a hernia problem.
