Paul Lambert: Time is of the essence at Wolves
Wolves boss Paul Lambert says he accepts managers are now given less time to impress – but he's delighted to be back in the game.
The Scot was today taking charge of Wolves for the first time as they took on Preston North End at Deepdale.
His predecessor at Molineux, Walter Zenga, only lasted 14 Championship games before he was sacked. Lambert, though, embraces the pressure.
"(Time) gets less and less," he said of today's managerial climate. "It's a difficult job because another guy is trying to beat you and not everybody can win.
"Sometimes you don't get too much time. If the owners are trigger-happy you're away, no matter what.
"But that's part and parcel of the game.
"I think everyone who's in it, goes in with open eyes, you know the pitfalls of it.
"I've missed the Saturday 3pm feeling. If you're watching the results come in, there's no pressure on you.
"When you're back in it the pressure comes on you again. You miss that sort of feeling."
Meanwhile, former Wolves favourite Robbie Keane has left LA Galaxy after six years – and wants one more challenge to finish his career.
Bookies have offered odds of 8/1 for Keane to make a sensational return to Wolves, although the Irishman won't be short of offers.
Keane 36, scored 92 regular season goals over six successful seasons, while helping Galaxy win three MLS Cups.
The former Wolves star said: "It's been a privilege to have played my part in the history of such a great club and I leave with memories that will stay with me forever.
"Winning three MLS Cups, scoring over 100 goals for the club and being named as 2014 MVP are all achievements that I will look back on with pride, it's been an incredible experience, I've truly loved every minute of my time at LA Galaxy."
