Steve Bull puts pen to paper on his golden years at Wolves

It's one of the Black Country's most famous stories. A Tipton lad by the name of Stephen George Bull went, in the space of a few short years, from working in a builders' yard to being part of the England squad that reached the World Cup semi final.

And now the Wolves legend and record goalscorer is telling all about his remarkable career in a new book.

Bully: Forever Wolves includes untold tales and unseen pictures from his three decades at Molineux.

The current Wolves vice-president, who scored 306 goals in gold and black, joined Wolves in November 1986 and the book will be launched on November 16 to coincide with the anniversary. Bully tells of how he nearly died on a pre-season tour, how close he came to getting the Wolves manager's job – and what really happened between him and Gary Lineker.

Bully tells of how he didn't want to leave Albion, whose ex-manager Ron Saunders famously discarded him, and what it was like swapping the Hawthorns for Molineux.

Hot off the presses – Steve Bull with his new book Bully: Forever Wolves, which is to be launched on November 16

He said: "It's been, you wouldn't believe, 30 years since I went to Wolves.

"It's more of a reflective look on the last three decades. I think everybody knows what I've done with my goals, but they don't know what I'm doing now, what I did in between, what I've done since I retired." Bully popped to John Price Printers in Bilston yesterday to see the pages fresh in print.

"It's absolutely beautiful and the printers have done a cracking job," he added. "I was amazed with the cover and thought that's good the way they've done it." The book has been produced in association with the Express & Star and Wolves.

Paul Burns, business development manager at John Price Printers which has been in existence since the 1880s, added: "It seemed like the perfect fit for us to print a book about a Wolverhampton legend at an historic Black Country printing firm. The book has got a great look to it and has got loads of images that people may not have seen in colour before.

"It's been great having Bully in to see it."
