Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: Show what Wolves are made of at Newcastle
Wolves striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has called on his team-mates to show character as they look to bounce back at Newcastle this weekend.
Wolves suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to Barnsley on Tuesday to leave them winless in three.
After an excellent start to Walter Zenga's reign, the Italian now has to rouse his troops ahead a tough run of fixtures which includes successive games at St James' Park with an EFL Cup tie to follow Saturday's league game
And Icelandic striker Bodvarsson has no doubts that the players will improve.
"We will bounce back," he said. "It was a hard kick in the butt – sometimes that's necessary in football and makes you better for the next games.
"It's a long season and it's just important to bounce back and show the character of the team.
"It was a little bit of a shock. There wasn't much talk (in the dressing room). Every individual of the team was just thinking about how it went so wrong and focusing on trying to get an explanation.
"But we just went home to sleep and the next morning we had a meeting, went through the game together and learned a lot from it."
The players swapped their day off for a video nasty of Wednesday when they analysed the match on video.
Bodvarsson added: "It was important to watch it back together. There's a difference between losing (any game) and losing 4-0 at home. If we do that we know we have to check the game and learn from it as quick as possible.
"In the end it was a collapse and as a side we've been talking together, been really focusing on each other's games and tried to learn from it. I feel we've done that.
"The schedule is tight and many games are left so we just needed to analyse the game together in the meeting room, talk about it and express ourselves."
And of tomorrow's daunting trip to high-flying Newcastle, the striker said: "I don't think the Barnsley game will affect our confidence. We know what we can do. We are certain that we will bounce back."
