Walter Zenga satisfied with Wolves players and 'amazing' fans after convincing win
Walter Zenga declared himself satisfied with Wolves' convincing win over Reading - played out in an 'amazing' Molineux atmosphere.
Goals from Matt Doherty and Joe Mason either side of half time handed Wolves a 2-0 win - but they spurned several chances to register a scoreline that would have better reflected their dominance.
With imminent new £2million signing Prince Oniangue watching on from the stands, it was a positive afternoon all round.
And Zenga, unbeaten in his first three games as boss, said: "It was very satisfying. The team plays very well, no doubt about the final result.
"I think if we had scored more goals it's nice but in the end the most important thing is three points and how we put the spirit of the team on the pitch.
"They want to win. And now from five minutes we're thinking about Ipswich (on Tuesday night)
"In my opinion we start in the first 30 minutes as a very nice team, very compact, strong, good for pressing.
"We don't let them (Reading) do what they prepare normally. And the spirit of the team, I repeat, was amazing, because we play in the right way.
"Then we score the goals in the perfect time."
Wolves utilised a high-pressing game, pushing Reading back into their own box and forcing several errors from the visitors' back line.
Zenga added: "It depends on the team we play against, the quality. This is the job of the coach - when is the time to push, when to keep calm, when to play another way.
"Sometimes I win, something I learn. But passion, pride and the spirit must be the first three ideas of the team.
"I find a very nice group of players that want to work, they want to push their limit higher.
"This doesn't mean we're going to win - it means we're going to prepare good for win.
"And if the team prepare prepares good for win you don't have to be ashamed, you can go around with your head up."
Benfica loanee Joao Teixeira starred at Molineux with a dazzling performance in which he could have scored a couple of goals and created many more.
But Zenga steered away from singling out any individuals, saying it was the team effort that allowed Teixeira to perform.
He said: "I think the team played well. And when the team plays altogether the players that have quality like him, like Mason, they can give more quality and more pressure.
"Don't forget Teixeira arrive like me 12 days ago. It's a fantastic situation for him because the team mates put him in the position to play well."
The joyous home fans created an atmosphere not heard at Molineux for quite some time.
They sang Zenga's name throughout - and also tried to get the new boss to wave for them, although he struggled to get the message in the first half.
"When I'm in the game I hear nothing!" he said. It's something that I'm concentrating and then the bench they call me and say 'look, hey'. It's okay.
"The atmosphere was amazing and fantastic. There are no words to describe.
"Amazing stadium and the fans are with us. This is the right way.
"We have to concentrate, we have to be cautious about our problems. One lose is not a drama, it's a long season, 46 games, but I repeat my wish - to see this stadium full."
