Wolves host League Two Crawley in the first round of the EFL Cup with Zenga looking to win his first game as boss.
The Italian suggested he will make changes to his starting XI – although he was still waiting to hear today if Dominic Iorfa was available after Wolves appealed against his Rotherham red card.
Zenga said: "Of course it's going to be emotional. But it's going to be emotional all the time, not just the first.
"The first time is special because it's the first. Then I love to be involved in any game and will be happy for any game inside Molineux.
"The first time is always exciting. I think as a coach I have to think game by game without being enthusiastic or sad or nervous for some result that doesn't come."
Joao Teixeira and Helder Costa both came off the bench at Rotherham and could start, while the likes of Jack Price and Conor Coady are likely to feature.
Zenga added: "You have to weigh up playing the first XI to give continuity (or) to give also a chance to the other players that doesn't play to be involved in the project.
"Personally I think it is better to give to everybody a chance to be involved. Because you need everybody (during the season).
"Even if there are changes the players on the pitch will give 100 per cent and be competitive because we want to give the fans the satisfaction to try and go as long as we can in the cup."
Rumours continue to link Benfica star Talisca with a big-money move to Molineux.
But Zenga said: "The funny thing is I always hear about rumours and I never meet him!
"Of course we are in the heart of the transfer window.
"We're working hard to make the squad very competitive and bring some players to the club that can make us competitive."
