Rob Edwards impressed with new boss Walter Zenga after whirlwind 24 hours at Wolves
Rob Edwards is confident new Wolves head coach Walter Zenga can be a success at the club.
Edwards took charge of today's 4-0 defeat to Swansea at Molineux in the midst of a whirlwind 24 hours.
The first-team coach - who isn't sure if he'll still have a job at Wolves under Zenga - met the new boss on Saturday morning and the pair picked the team together.
Edwards said of Zenga: "He's a very amiable guy. He's got a presence about him - as soon as he walks into the dressing room, he's the manager, straight away, so everyone sits up and listens.
"He's got a clear vision on how he wants the game to be played.
"He knows what players we've got and he knows what we need as well, obviously we will need some reinforcements.
"I'm sure he's going to go on and do very well - we'll give him all the support we can."
Edwards found out the new Kenny Jackett had been sacked just minutes before it was announced late on Friday night.
He gave a lowdown on what will be considered one of the more eventful days in the club's history.
"We had training as usual on Friday, then I went down to watch Reading against Bournemouth last night as we've got Reading quite early on in the season," Edwards said.
"And then I found out on my way home at around 11pm that Ken and Joe had left.
"I spoke to Kevin Thelwell this morning and he explained the situation that I'd be taking the game.
"I asked for Scott (Sellars) to come and assist and got to the training ground nice and early, met Walter, who was in at around 10.30am to look around the facilities.
"We sat down and had a chat and went through a few things.
"He knows the players quite well already - he's been doing his research. We had a chat about the game, about the players and came up with a bit of a plan for substitutions and how we wanted the game to go.
"I think however long it's gone on for, be it a day or two, he's been able to familiarise himself with the players quite quickly and watched a couple of the previous games and build his own thoughts and opinions on the players so far.
"It's been a bit of a whirlwind."
The 33-year-old former defender admitted it had been an uncertain time for everyone.
Edwards will now seek clarification on his future.
He said of Wolves' shellshocked squad: "The players, coming in this afternoon, there are a lot of questions going on in their heads as well.
"This period now has been unsettling for everyone - there's been a lot of question marks.
"They understand - even the younger players have been around long enough to know that managers do move on.
"They're professional. There was no time to really talk about too much stuff today."
And on his own future Edwards added: "We're not 100 per cent sure what's happening. We hope to be involved and support the manager in every way we can.
"But if I'm being completely honest right now I don't know for 100 per cent that I'm going to be here going forward.
"I can't speak for any of the staff. But we hope so and we want to work with Walter.
"You've got to try and ride the wave. We're professional and we get paid to do a job.
"That's all we can do."
