The Scot has finally agreed personal terms with the London club after a fee was agreed almost two weeks ago, as revealed in the Express & Star.

McDonald's contract has the option of an extra year and the switch sees him join up with ex-Wolves team mate Richard Stearman.

The 27-year-old said of his Fulham move: "They obviously came in for me last season and I decided to stay at Wolves to give it one last crack.

"They came in again and were really keen to bring me in. I felt really wanted by the club.

"Once we managed to get the contract sorted out it was an easy enough decision."

And of departing Wolves, the midfielder added in a statement: "After three years here I think the time is right for me to move on but I do that with some great memories of my time at Wolves.

"First of all I want to thank the fans, who have always been spot-on with me, right the way through.

"Even when I wasn't in the team, they were shouting for me to get back in, and I will always appreciate the support they have given me.

"I also want to thank the gaffer, who has been brilliant for me in bringing me to Wolves and giving me the opportunity to play.

"He then played me in 90 per cent of the games over three years and was an influence on me over my time at the club.

"I want to thank every single member of the staff, from all the coaches and physios through to the chef - every one of them has been amazing.

"But I would like to make a special mention for the Doc - Matt Perry - for helping me with some personal health issues during my time at the Club.

"I have enjoyed working with such a great bunch of players, and the day-to-day banter with them has been something else!

"Alongside that there was of course the season we got promoted, which was a massive highlight.

"Of course I will be looking out for Wolves results from now on, especially now the takeover has gone through.

"And I am already looking forward to seeing everyone again when I come back to Molineux next season.

"I have met some amazing people and made some great friends, not just in football but for life."

McDonald joined Wolves in 2013 and was named player of the year in his first season, when Wolves lifted the League One title.

However things began to turn sour last summer when talks over a new contract stalled and amid interest from the Cottagers, who had bids of £1m and £1.25m rejected.

McDonald was unhappy at what he saw as a derisory contract offer on the table from Wolves and was left out of the squad for a pre-season friendly at Burton, with Jackett saying the midfielder was too unsettled to play.

A three-year contract was eventually agreed in September, however in March of this year McDonald was hauled off at half time against Bristol City - and then dropped for the rest of the season amid rumours of a bust-up between him and Jackett.

Fans will be concerned at seeing one of the club most gifted players leave just two weeks ahead of the new season.

Only one signing has been made all summer - goalkeeper Andy Lonergan - but with Fosun International having finalised their £30m takeover that is expected to change soon.
