Wolves to offer Danny Batth, Carl Ikeme and David Edwards new deals

Experienced trio Danny Batth, Carl Ikeme and David Edwards are all set to be offered new deals by Wolves, it can be revealed.

All three are out of contract at Molineux next summer and Wolves will look to move quickly to tie them down.

It's very much business as usual at the club despite persistent rumours of a Chinese takeover that would reportedly see Julen Lopetegui installed as Wolves boss.

Between them, the trio have clocked up 38 years of service at the club.

Ikeme, aged 30, and Batth, 25, came through the academy, while 30-year-old Edwards joined from Luton Town eight years ago.

They and Mike Williamson are the highest profile players whose deals expire in 2017.

Youngsters Jon Flatt and Connor Hunte are also on the list, while Wolves have the option of taking up an automatic extra year on the deals of a host of first-team players including Jack Price, James Henry, George Saville and Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

In Batth's case, the Molineux hierarchy will hope to avoid a repeat of the protracted negotiations seen the last time the Brierley Hill-born centre-half's deal was expiring.

After months of wrangling, he eventually put pen to paper six months before the end of his old deal in January 2014. Ikeme signed his current contract later that year, while Edwards was handed a one-year extension to his existing deal last summer.

Kenny Jackett said of the trio: "They are three players who we're keen to keep.

"They're very well established at the club. They all have futures here. We'll be speaking to them."

With just over a month to go until the start of the season, Wolves have plenty of work to do in the transfer market.

Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan remains their only signing to date.

A striker remains a top priority, with Manchester United youngster Ashley Fletcher still an option despite rumours of interest from West Ham.
