Kenny Jackett: The Wolves buck stops with me

Kenny Jackett has taken full responsibility for Wolves' recent poor form and declared: 'The buck stops with me.'

Wolves have drawn their last four home games 0-0 – and won just three home or away in their last 18 matches – a run of relegation form stretching back to January.

They have just two fixtures left – away at Nottingham Forest and at home to Sheffield Wednesday – to try and end the season on a high.

And Jackett told the Express & Star: "I definitely take responsibility for the results.

"The buck stops with the head coach. For us, during those run of games, it still is better to draw than get beaten, but drawing at home isn't where we want to be either. We don't aspire to that."

A year ago Wolves were still dreaming of promotion via the play-offs, with Jackett having rejuvenated the club in the previous two years. He admitted: "It is the opposite at the moment – and it's not a good feeling.

"There has been a deceleration. There are some strengths in the squad, we're not absolutely miles away in the games – but we need to make up that gap.

"We can see where we need to improve.

"People coming back, young players coming on and improving, and players coming in is going to really help us to have balance, competition, a threat to the opposition."

Supporters loudly voiced their frustration during Saturday's goalless stalemate with Rotherham.

The Wolves boss said of the boo-boys, and results since January: "It was a culmination of recent weeks, of four 0-0 draws on the trot, and the season that we've had, which has been a mid-table season and a frustrating season for the crowd and for all of us. Looking this time last year at a very potent side going forward – at the moment it's very difficult for us to get a goal, or see where goals are coming from.

"I think a lot of the games have been very close, but yes, who have we got on top of? MK Dons, we won that deservedly, to a degree we got on top of Rotherham, after that have we done enough going forward to go on and win our other games?

"We've kept picking up points, but not enough points and not enough wins, and not enough goals."
