The 23-year-old went under the knife on Tuesday as he begins his long rehabilitation for a serious knee injury, suffered against MK Dons two weeks ago.

Zyro left hospital yesterday and will continue his recovery at Compton Park.

Medical chief Phil Hayward said: "Michal had his op on Tuesday morning and it all went according to plan.

"He had both his cruciate ligament and lateral ligament reconstructed, along with some other structures on the outside which needed to be repaired as well.

"So it was a long operation, but the surgeon was very pleased with the repairs that he carried out.

"Michal will be at home over the weekend before coming back to the training ground next week to start his recovery process. In terms of timescales we are due to go back to see the consultant again in about six weeks time and same again about three months after the operation.

"Overall we are still looking at Michal being sidelined for a time frame in the region of a year."

Zyro suffered the injury after a tackle by MK Dons defender Antony Kay, for which he received just a booking.
