Seventh heaven is the goal for Wolves

Wolves may be six games unbeaten, but boss Kenny Jackett accepts his team have big improvements to make.

Deflating 0-0 draws at home to Ipswich and Blackburn, in which Wolves' attack was toothless, have tempered the positivity garnered from victory at Milton Keynes Dons and a morale-boosting draw at Burnley.

The discrepancy between home and away displays has been marked, but Jackett couldn't put his finger on what was behind it.

He said: "I've spoken to the players about it. There's no specific reason why that's been the case. There hasn't been any difference in terms of approach and build up.

"Whether there's been a difference in attitude to opposition, I don't know. But if you want to be a successful top six team, you have to deal with both challenges.

"That'll be our aim against Hull, to recognise a good team and a hard game, then defend and compete.

"Then, on top of that, be able to play good constructive football and be able to give them problems, to create opportunities."

With just three goals scored in their last five, it's clear where Jackett wants his team to progress.

Despite the unbeaten run he's not been satisfied with what he's seen from his team.

Jackett added: "While 'if we don't win we make sure we don't get beat' is a good principle to use, it's only a platform to build on. As a unit and as a side we're aspiring to do better.

Making sure we've got players that can consistently go past their men, capitalising on the early crosses that we do put in, and then getting enough men in the box are things that we need.

"We defend as a team and we attack as a team. We've had an unbeaten run, which shows we've got something, but winning games and scoring goals is where we want to be."

Jack Price is certain to take his place in midfield tomorrow, after an excellent recent run of form.

Jackett has been delighted with the 23-year-old's displays – but has challenged him to continue to develop his game.

He said: "Price, for me, is a big player and is on 70 games now. I've always told Jack, between 50 and 100 games is going to be where you are, and you can then start to really be a leader for the club.

"I believe he can do that. I think he's grown in confidence.

"If he can add assists, if he can take responsibility on set pieces which he is starting to do, if he can add shots to his game, which again he's capable of – he can then develop confidence to go on and be a very good player."

Wolves have taken a couple of scalps against the top six sides this season, beating Derby and Brighton and going unbeaten against Burnley and Hull, with a 1-1 draw against the latter in August.

Jackett thinks Hull's top-two hopes are probably now over. He said: "It does look like it's play-offs for them.

"It's hard to see a collapse of those above them, with how good those sides are. I'm sure they'll keep going and the play-offs is a good achievement. Hull have a good, expensively-assembled squad."
