Carl Ikeme wants Wolves wins – not clean sheets
Man of the match Carl Ikeme said he'd have preferred a Wolves win over yet another Molineux clean sheet.
That's three clean sheets in a row at home for Ikeme – although no goals at the other end made for a disgruntled home crowd on Saturday.
The Nigeria international pulled off three stunning saves to earn Wolves a point against Blackburn.
But he said he'd much rather have conceded a goal and seen Wolves claim all three.
"Any clean sheet I'm pleased with," he said. "Obviously we'd like to win – and I'd have taken a win over a clean sheet – but when you get one as a goalkeeper you're always happy and it's nice to make a few saves as well.
"Like the manager said and a lot of the players are saying, if you can't win you don't want to lose and it was a good defensive performance all round.
"We'll take the positives from that."
Ikeme pushed a Jordi Gomez strike on to the bar, stunningly diverted a header from the same player and then tipped Shane Duffy's header over the top.
But a modest Ikeme wasn't interested in seeing the saves back.
"Not particularly," he said. "I don't really like gloating, it's always nice to make saves, when they're late on it seems a bit more important.
"The lads have defended pretty well over the last six games or so.
"The unbeaten run is a positive after the way the season has gone.
"We've got to score more at home but we know we've got goals in the team, we know it'll come, everyone's working hard.
"Six unbeaten is good for anyone in the Championship, we want to build on that."
Ikeme's form has been excellent of late after what has been a difficult season for the popular Wolves stopper.
He found himself on the bench at the start of the campaign behind Emiliano Martinez.
And he feels a long run of games in the team has benefited him.
"I'm happy, I came back into the team just before Christmas, I enjoy playing as always," he said. "I'm always ready to play, I was on the bench at the start of the season and it was a bit of a slow start.
"But any goalkeeper needs a run of games to hit form. I'm reasonably happy with how it's going at the minute.
"It's not always about competition with me. I've never worried about someone else, it's always about what I do. I push myself to keep improving every week. Every week I work on something new."
