Joe Gallen: There's still plenty for Wolves to play for

Wolves assistant boss Joe Gallen insists there's still everything to play for this season – and has urged the players to play with pride.

It's extremely unlikely that Wolves will trouble either end of the division, with them currently 14 points off the play-offs and 11 ahead of the relegation zone.

But Gallen says that until both scenarios are mathematically impossible, Wolves have everything to play for.

And even then he wants to see performances like that witnessed at Burnley, to give supporters hope for the future.

Gallen said: "The thing with the season is that there's still enough points mathematically to go sixth. And there's still enough points mathematically that we could lose to get relegated.

"So we've got everything to play for.

"And then once that's been sorted either way I think that the season should look like the Burnley game – our performances have got to look like that.

"There's a lot to play for really – the fans, ourselves, themselves (the players), and the pride of the club."

If James Henry, Mike Williamson and David Edwards all return from injury in the coming weeks, Wolves will have their strongest available squad for some months.

Gallen believes that confidence played a big part in the much improved Burnley display, and wants the players to continue in that vein.

"We've got arguably some of our best attackers to come back," he added.

"But if this is the group until the end of the season it's up to them to grab hold of their opportunity and to play with that quality and pride that the fans and the club deserves.

"Burnley was one of the best performances of the season – but I don't think it'll be a one-off."
