Wolves' Connor Ronan told to dominate games
Young Irish star Connor Ronan should take inspiration from West Brom loanee Alex Pritchard and make an impact at Wolves, assistant boss Joe Gallen believes.
Highly-rated Ronan could be one of the next academy graduates to feature for Kenny Jackett's first team.
The 18-year-old was recently named as Ireland's under-17 player of the year and is tipped for big things at Molineux.
Ronan has trained frequently with the first team squad and Gallen believes he shares the same attributes as Spurs man Pritchard, who excelled in the Championship with Brentford last season.
Gallen said: "He's got to be looking, and I've told him, at someone like Alex Pritchard, who Connor has the same attributes as. Pritchard was able to stamp his authority on the Championship.
"Connor's got to be looking at a Pritchard and seeing how he grabbed hold of games, with a lot of assists and goals. There's no reason why Connor can't do that."
Ronan travelled with the first team to France last summer and featured regularly in pre-season. Since then, he's been with both the under-18s and under-21s.
Gallen said: "He's getting stronger all the time. The key thing and key consideration in the Championship is that people do underestimate the power, the pace and the size of the division.
"Especially in the forward areas, you do need to have, normally, that power, pace, size, etc. But Connor then brings something else to it and he brings an outstanding football brain and a really good technical ability.
"He's got a very good brain, very good technically, and a bright future. He's got a good personality too and stamps his personality on the game when he plays.
"He's desperate to get on the ball, he's certainly got a long pass and a longer shot, which is always effective in terms of winning games."
