Wolves' Danny Batth: This shows potential

Goalscoring skipper Danny Batth thinks Wolves have shown their potential after stunning the league leaders on their own patch.

Batth's last-gasp equaliser earned Kenny Jackett's side a dramatic point at Turf Moor.

It was the least Wolves deserved after outplaying Burnley for long spells and having almost double the shots of Sean Dyche's table-toppers, who had won six on the spin.

And Batth believes that with consistency – and without injuries – Wolves would be right up there in the Championship table.

"It just goes to show the potential that's in the squad, whether it's this season, next season, there's good players on the books and we're not far away," the 25-year-old said.

"The margins in the Championship are very slim and I think it's just a bit of consistency really and a few injuries that have cost us."

Batth's second goal of the season sparked wild celebrations in front of 1,000 away fans.

The Brierley Hill-born defender said of the goal: "It was brilliant, I sort of managed to get a bit of eye contact with (Nathan Byrne) before we took the corner and sort of said to hang it up a little bit so I'm thankful for that delivery and hopefully it's one (goal) of a few more to come.

"It happened so quickly, I just got it in my eyeline really and threw everything at it.

"It was either going in the back of the goal or into the stand so I wanted to make sure that I got good contact and thankfully it went in the back of the net.

"I won't describe my celebration in the same way I described it to the lads in the dressing room! But yeah, it was good, a good feeling and was lovely, especially in front of the fans to wheel off in front of them was brilliant."

Despite the late goal this was certainly no smash and grab draw for Wolves who produced one of their best performances of the season.

Batth felt the way the team was set up played a big part in that.

He said: "I think that possibly had something to do with our setup really, obviously we know Burnley are quite a narrow 4-4-2 team, and we outnumbered them with three in midfield.

"And then we left our wingers behind us which stretched their back four, we tried to impose ourselves on them really and I think to a certain extent, frustrate them."

Sam Vokes' goal was Burnley's only shot on target. And Wolves did an excellent job of keeping the Championship's 22-goal top scorer Andre Gray quiet.

Batth added: "We thought we defended well, they had a very potent attack of coming into the game, we were aware of their goal scoring and how solid they are usually at home and what was required really for us to come away with anything.

"I know Andre, I see him scoring goals all the time and he's good at usually getting behind and getting goals and he's done it perfectly this season, I thought me and Korts (Kortney Hause) pegged him back and limited his chances."
