Huddersfield boss defends Van La Parra
Huddersfield boss David Wagner has urged patience with Rajiv van La Parra after a disappointing debut from the on-loan Wolves winger.
Van La Parra was taken off at half time during Huddersfield's Yorkshire derby at Leeds on Saturday.
The score was 1-1 at the time and Town, inspired by Harry Bunn who replaced Van La Parra, ran out 4-1 winners.
Wagner admitted it wasn't Van La Parra's "best day" and said the 24-year-old needed time to settle in.
"It was not Rajiv's best day," Wagner told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
"But he worked for us and helped us in the first half and he will help us in the future for sure.
"Rajiv had only been here one week, and I think we were able to see that. He needs time.
"It was a tough decision whether to start with Rajiv or Harry.
"But if you don't try it, you don't know it.
"It is important Rajiv feels welcome here and you only get that feeling by getting playing time.
"He will get better for sure."
Van La Parra is on loan from Wolves until the end of the season but his move to the West Yorkshire club will be made permanent in the summer.
