Video: Kenny Jackett on the 3-2 loss to QPR
Kenny Jackett bemoaned Wolves' defensive failings as they threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at home to QPR.
Wolves' first defeat of the season was partly self-inflicted, with their defenders unable to cope with the threat of Albion target Matt Phillips who scored two and created the other.
Emiliano Martinez didn't convince in goal and Jackett, who felt his side played some excellent football in the first half, admitted Wolves needed to be better at the back.
"We have to be better out of possession, we have to close more, and not give away as many chances," he said.
"Right the way through the game we'll be looking to be better as a unit defensively.
"QPR had 10 shots no target tonight which does generally constitute a win.
"It's a results-based business and we've lost, which is a frustration, but from our point of view we got ourselves into a very good position and then ultimately let it slip."
Arsenal loanee Martinez kept his place after surprisingly usurping Carl Ikeme for the draw with Hull at the weekend.
He let Phillips' goals creep past him and Jackett said: "I'm sure he'll look at them again and be disappointed, the second two are longer shots, one's crept in and maybe unsighted him.
"These things happen and it's ultimately frustrating."
Jackett confirmed striker Nouha Dicko wasn't injured when he replaced him with on-loan Cardiff front-man Adam le Fondre at half time.
"I wanted to try to get Adam on just behind the striker to help us be more compact," Jackett said.
"Ultimately the goals against column didn't affect that. It was purely tactical.
"QPR were good tonight, as were Hull, and we're frustrated at getting one point out of six."
On the positive side Norwich target Benik Afobe scored his third goal in just four games this season.
Jackett said of his star man: "It didn't look like the speculation affected him.
"He got the opening goal. He won't get carried away, he'll be flattered by it but then focused on his Wolves career and on keeping scoring goals for us."
