Fanatical fans follow Wolves over land and sea

Wherever Wolves play, their fanatical supporters will follow.

They've followed Wolves all across Europe over the years and even to Australia, so hopping over the Channel won't seem like the hardiest of jaunts.

Still, it takes a certain kind of devotion to watch Wolves play a friendly on your 25th wedding anniversary.

Mind you, Kevin and Tracey Eccleston had started how they meant to go on – they spent part of their wedding day watching the 1990 World Cup final.

Twenty-five years on football dominated the Cannock pair's silver wedding anniversary too, as part of a 10-day excursion to France.

Kevin, aged 56, said: "When the fixtures were announced there was no doubt about it, no choice at all, go to Paris and then watch the Wolves.

"We had a bit of romance in Paris and now a bit of romance watching the Wolves.

"And it was nice of them to win as well. The players looked fit and it was good to see some of the young lads."

Tracey, 50, added: "After we said 'I do', we were watching the World Cup final in 1990, Argentina versus Germany."

Superfan: Kelvin Weatherer

They spent Wednesday night having a celebratory curry before heading back to Paris today and then returning for Wolves' next game tomorrow.

Kelvin Weatherer from Uttoxeter has followed Wolves for the best part of five decades.

He said: "I've been to Australia, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Germany.

"I'm glad they've done a foreign tour again this year. It's a very nice setting with a lovely little stadium."

Perhaps Chris Hughes, who chose to spend his 30th birthday watching the game, summed it up best.

The Stan Cullis season ticket holder said: "Why do watch them home and away every week? I go to work all day every day so I can afford to watch them at the weekend, or here on tour.

"What else are we going to do – be at work? This is what we do."
