Friends become foes to Wolves' Nouha Dicko

Wolves striker Nouha Dicko has plenty of friends at Rotherham but, for 90 minutes tomorrow, they become the enemy.

The Millers will always have a place in the Mali international's heart, after a profitable loan spell last season in which he netted twice against Wolves in a 3-3 draw.

But it's at Molineux he now earns his corn and has already put his old club to the sword once, with a hat-trick in the thrilling 6-4 win last April.

He said: "Rotherham is always going to be a special game for me because of my loan spell there and because I know the manager and some of the players.

"The game for Rotherham against Wolves when I scored twice was a good one and hopefully I have repaid Wolves with some more goals since including a hat trick later in the season.

"I still follow them on social networks and look out for their results.

"I had a really good time there last season and they are really good guys but on Saturday, if I play, then for 90 minutes I am going to be their enemy rather than their friend!

"But after that we can be friends again! It is a bit different playing against people you know and often it makes you want to do even better.

"And there is always that bit of banter after the game if you have won or lost. They will know my game but I will be motivated and thinking about what I can do.

"Hopefully it will be another good game and we will get the three points."

Nouha Dicko celebrates scoring a goal during his days playing for Rotherham.

Dicko's performance for Rotherham last season against Wolves persuaded Kenny Jackett to bring the 22-year-old from Wigan soon after.

The striker added: "I joined Wolves two weeks after I had played against them for Rotherham.

"Sometimes we still have the banter about that game and the defenders tell me they let me score and play well that day so Wolves would sign me!

"And then I will tell them that I was just too good for them!"

Tomorrow, Wolves will be looking to avenge August's 1-0 defeat at the New York Stadium.

Despite creating numerous chances, Jackett's side were undone by Ryan Hall's second-half winner.

Dicko added: "We played quite well at Rotherham earlier in the season and had some quite good chances but we lost the game.

"When you lose a game you always want to try and beat the opposition next time you play them. It was similar to Huddersfield here when we started the game well at home but ended up losing.

"Then we went there last week and managed to turn it around with a really good win. We want to try and do the same again now and I feel confident we can do it."

The motivation is also there to get back on track following last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Norwich, where Wolves submitted their poorest performance for some time.

Dicko, who believes Jackett's team have enough quality to close the five-point gap which has opened between them and the top six, said: "It wasn't our best.

"Mentally, we were ready for the challenge but maybe there was a bit of tiredness with all the travelling.

"We were very late back from Huddersfield, with a lot of traffic problems, and I don't want to make any excuses but sometimes you do not feel as fresh as you want to feel.

"That is why I am still confident that we are a much better than that and still have a chance of getting promoted. If we don't make it I am going to be really disappointed."
