Wolves not worried over Nouha Dicko injury
Boss Kenny Jackett today stressed there is no panic over Nouha Dicko, despite the striker picking up a hamstring injury.
Dicko scored the only goal in Saturday's 1-0 win against Bolton – which moved them up to third in the Championship– but limped off at half-time to be replaced by Leon Clarke.
Wolves haven't been able to finalise a deal for Southampton's pacy forward Emmanuel Mayuka while news that ex-Molineux hitman Steven Fletcher is out of favour at Sunderland will not have gone unnoticed.
But publicly, the head coach is only looking at his current squad and is confident Dicko will be fit for the televised Sunday lunchtime trip to Reading.
"He had a very tight hamstring but we don't think it's pulled," said Jackett.
"All being well he'll be OK for Reading. We'll make sure he's 100 per cent fit because he's a key player."
Regarding the signing of a loan striker, Jackett said: "If we can improve our squad we always would but it doesn't suddenly make it more urgent.
"But we now play Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday and that's a key period for the squad."
Jackett hailed keeper Carl Ikeme after he saved Owen Garvan's 58th-minute penalty. "He's a good example of somebody wanting to do well for the club," said the boss. "His distribution and his whole game has improved, and he's a big part of the team."
Jackett played down the surprise absence of Michael Jacobs from the 18 for the first time. "I just wanted to have an extra forward in Liam McAlinden," he said.
"We have everyone available. For the two in the squad but not in the 18 and for the non playing subs, it's frustrating. But as injuries come you need strong players to come in. We've got an Under-21 game tonight (against Middlesbrough at Molineux, 7pm) when people who haven't been playing can get a game."
