Steve Hodge doubt on Wolves' Group Three

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today admitted the future of 'group three' is up in the air along with that of coach Steve Hodge.

Only Kevin Foley, Roger Johnson and Georg Margreitter remain of the eight unwanted players, who train on their own in the afternoons.

The departures of Stephen Ward, Jamie O'Hara, Tongo Doumbia and Keivn Doyle have decimated the group, while Razak Boukari is out until Christmas after a hamstring operation and Bjorn Sigurdarson's loan at Molde runs to November.

Hodge, the former Nottingham Forest, Villa and England midfielder who was brought in to keep the unwanted players fit, has been retained on a monthly basis so far.

But clearly it's going to be difficult to work with only three players.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said: "It's a very good question. It's something we'll have to talk about and think our way through in terms of their fitness and sessions.

"Three quite clearly isn't enough to be working as a group. At the moment, it's carrying on. They're training with Steve, although I gave Foley a game (yesterday) against Liverpool.

"But what we do going forward is definitely something we have to discuss and think about."

Hodge was development manager at Notts County until the summer. Jackett said: "Steve is working at the moment on a month-by-month basis."

Jackett believes Sheffield Wednesday may come back in for Johnson.

"I did think at some stage Sheffield Wednesday would come back in for him, but that hasn't happened yet," he said.

"They have started the season well and I don't know where Stuart Gray is with it."

Luckless Boukari is set to stay at Molineux until the next transfer window as he looks to regain full fitness.

Even if he was fit, the closure of the transfer window means he can only move to an English club when the loan window opens on Monday.

"We're certainly thinking about near to Christmas in terms of a return," said Jackett.

"It's two to three weeks since his operation and he's working at being back in months rather than weeks.

"If somebody wants to secure his services going forward (a loan can't happen imminently) - you can only move abroad in the transfer windows anyway.

"He could go to an English club on loan (from Monday) but in terms of going back to France - which I'd think is the best option - that's ruled out until January 1."
