Jack Price primed for Wolves start at Fulham
Midfielder Jack Price could be set for his first Wolves start in the Championship this season at Fulham tonight.
Head coach Kenny Jackett says the 21-year-old is ready to play as he contemplates freshening up his team for two clashes against relegated Premier League opposition in four days following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Rotherham.
Price failed to make the bench at the weekend, but was the odd man out and is in contention for a recall alongside Kevin McDonald if Jackett decides it's time Lee Evans stands down at Craven Cottage.
"On Saturday Jack was 19th man, and when we go to Fulham, it's then a case of whether he makes the starting XI or the bench," said Jackett.
"But he's fit enough and he'll be ready – that's a certainty.
"I had three midfield players on the pitch and took the option of having another forward on the bench."
Jackett has a settled group at the moment but wants more depth and options and has warned his squad will change as the season wears on.
"There's competition for places at the start of the season - you want some hunger, you want some determination, but you do need some depth as well," said the boss.
"While everybody is fit and available now, it's unlikely to stay that way as we go through a long season."
One player who looks set to wait for the weekend for his first-team chance to come is summer signing Tommy Rowe.
The former Peterborough captain made a planned 45-minute comeback for the Under-21s in Monday's 2-1 defeat to Albion.
But he wasn't expected to travel with the rest of the squad to Craven Cottage this evening as he looks to be saved for Saturday's visit of Cardiff.
Meanwhile, Jackett has vowed to keep the same way and playing to win despite the increase in standards in the Championship.
"I think both of the sides we've played have been a little bit more powerful but our approach has been exactly the same – we just want to keep playing that way, and, if we can, get better," he said.
"I don't think we're going to experience things we haven't done before.
"The standards are better, on the two games that we've had so far and it's been very close.
"The Championship is notoriously that way - small margins at times can win and lose games and that was the case on Saturday.
"We set out to win every game we play, whether it be home or away and we do look at the opposition, but only to a degree.
"Our approach hasn't change from last year to this, we understood what the challenge was last year and we do similarly this year."
