The 23-year-old has joined the Scottish champions after Wolves finally agreed the seven-figure fee.

Wolves turned down two bids this week for the Scotland international, but they accepted the Hoops' latest offer with more than 12 hours to spare before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Griffiths said: "It´s been a long time coming. Ever since I heard Celtic were interested there was only once place I wanted to play and I´m just glad it´s done now.

"It was the middle of December and my agent gave me a phone and said Celtic could be interested in January and I have just been counting down the days.

"Unfortunately, it´s taken to the last day but I´m just glad that it´s been done now and I can´t wait to get started.

"We are the Scottish champions to begin with, and this is a massive club with a massive fanbase and a massive stadium. I have watched the Champions League nights on the TV and there is no better place to play. This is where I want to be.

"I was just really keen. I know what it takes to become a Celtic player. I had a great season last year at Hibs and then I have gone down back the road and started scoring goals as well."

It means Wolves have made a handsome profit on the former Livingston striker, who they signed from Dundee for £150,000 in January 2011.

Griffiths exits Molineux as their 13-goal top scorer this season despite only starting two of the last eight games.

But head coach Kenny Jackett is confident he has the firepower at his disposal in a rapidly-changing attack after splashing out £300,000 on Nouha Dicko from Wigan and £750,000 yesterday for Coventry striker Leon Clarke.

Griffiths could make his Celtic debut in Sunday's home clash against St. Mirren in the SPL.
