Leigh Griffiths told he can be key man for Wolves
Leigh Griffiths was today told he could be the difference for Wolves this season.
The Scotland international is full of confidence after bagging 28 goals on loan at Hibernian last term and has notched four times for Wolves in six friendlies.
Head coach Kenny Jackett, who has promised the 22-year-old a new contract if he continues his current form, told Griffiths he can be crucial to the club's League One campaign ahead of Saturday's big kick-off at Preston.
"He looks as if he will score which is a rare and precious commodity – and generally an expensive one," said Jackett.
"It's one that can make a difference between winning and drawing.
"Goals are on his mind – he's that type of player and he's got the ability to back that up.
"He wants to score, he wants to shoot, he wants to do shooting practice every day. So it will be an interesting season for him now in terms of developing in the English game."
Griffiths has shown the single-mindedness in front of goal rarely seen in a Wolves shirt since Steve Bull.
"It's all quite natural for him in terms of his finishing," said the boss.
"He doesn't think about it too much and he's quite instinctive, which all the best ones are."
After spending virtually two years out on loan, Griffiths has struck up a rapport with the fans that Jackett wants him to build on.
"He seems very popular with the crowd and it's nice for a centre-forward to get off on the right foot with your own supporters."
