Wolves cancel contract of Eggert Jonsson
Wolves' clear-out continued today as they cancelled Eggert Jonsson's contract by mutual consent.
The Iceland international's future always looked unsure when he missed out on the 23-man tour to Scotland.
Head coach Kenny Jackett suggested the way was still open for the 24-year-old to force his way into his plans earlier this week.
But he appears to have had a change of heart and the midfielder is now free to find another club while Wolves save an estimated £8,500-a-week in wages.
Jackett confirmed: "The club are in talks to cancel Eggert's contract by mutual consent.
"We would like to thank Eggert for his service and wish him all the best for the future."
Jonsson cost £600,000 when he arrived from Hearts in January 2012.
But what turned out to be Mick McCarthy's last permanent signing played just seven games, starting just twice in the league.
He was never able to force his way into contention behind players such as Karl Henry, David Davis, Tongo Doumbia, Jamie O'Hara and David Edwards.
Jonsson follows Christophe Berra, Stephen Hunt, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Adam Hammill and Dorus De Vries through the exit door this summer.
Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Henry and O'Hara have been transfer-listed.
