Tim Nash's tour diary on Wolves' Scotland trip

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is nothing but thorough and meticulous in everything he does.

And his conscientious approach extended to the first batch of Wolves fans who arrived at the club's Stirling University training base yesterday.

The Molineux head coach welcomed Gary 'Boo' Lewis, 52, and Kevin Ecclestone, 54, a retired miner, before spending around 10 minutes chatting to the Hednesford-based pair.

Lewis, who has his own commercial signs business in Hednesford, said: "Kenny welcomed us and said he's happy for the fans to watch them train.

"He told us he wants the fans to be able to concentrate on the football again and it seems he's very level-headed and wants to get some passion back in the team.

"He told us what we wanted to hear but it was encouraging."

The two fans arrived here after taking in a tour of Ibrox the day before, prior to a visit to a distillery.

And they reckon Wolves could do worse than borrow a marketing tip from fallen giants Glasgow Rangers.

Lewis said: "They had t-shirts in the club shop with slogans saying 'Stage One complete' and if we get promoted, we should do the same."

It was impossible to tell whether East Fife's prediction of 200 Wolves fans at the game was correct. But few can have the footballing pedigree of Charlie Blakemore.

Albrighton-based Blakemore is a lifelong Wolves fan and one-time Molineux coach and reserve under Graham Turner.

And Blakemore, who led non-league Chasetown to the FA Cup third round and through two promotions, was at Bayview Stadium.

Blakemore lives in Edinburgh during the week as business director of British Aerospace Systems, where they are building the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier.

And he couldn't miss the chance to cast his eye over Kenny Jackett's new-look squad. But names and reputations can count for little in the world of jobsworths.

Blakemore found himself pleading to be admitted to the bar area for a pre-match pint with colleagues being treated by him as part of their retirement following 38 years with the company.
