Tim Nash's tour diary on Wolves' Scotland trip

Wolves may be staying in Dunblane, but the little city has only one sporting idol.

It's almost a decade since new Wimbledon champion Andy Murray left, but Dunblane didn't disappoint with support for its favourite son.

On the main road going into the centre of town, there is a large banner hung outside the Dunblane Bowling Club announcing: 'Well done 'Oor' Andy.'

Virtually every shopfront has Murray slogans and pictures on display – even McIntyre's funeral directors has a discreetly-placed 'Come on Andy' poster.

Among the more imaginative was a Lego version of Murray in the toy shop.

Best banner was one of four draped over the tennis courts at Dunblane Sports Club which referenced the old Irn-Bru soft drink slogan by declaring: 'Andy Murray – Made in Scotland, Built by Girders.'

In the centre of Dunblane is Murray's gold postbox, dedicated to his Olympic victory. And after such a momentous day, there was no shortage of people waiting to have a souvenir picture taken alongside it.

Among them was a Dunblane family with a Wolverhampton connection.

Johnny, 37, father and husband to the tennis-mad Hendersons, worked for construction giant Carillion for eight years as head of supply chain for Scotland, based in Glasgow.

His sons Cameron, aged eight, and Evan, five, were eager to be snapped with the famous mailbox.

Meanwhile, Wolves' squad arrived in Dunblane at around 3pm yesterday after a five-hour coach journey which included a short stop for lunch on route.

Afterwards, they did some jogging and stretching to ease the stiffness from their travels, before a football session on the pitches at Stirling University, where they re-convened at 10am today.

But along with the risk of injury, the biggest concern is making sure the pitches have enough 'give' in them, as temperatures of up to 29 degrees Centigrade have been baking the surfaces.

Kenny Jackett's staff were busily making sure the ground-staff kept the pitches well watered.
