Kevin Phillips today admitted he has been offered a coaching role – putting Wolves on alert.

Head coach Kenny Jackett side-stepped questions on the prospect of being reunited with the former West Brom, Villa and Birmingham striker.

A report claimed he had been offered a player-coach's job at Molineux and Phillips, who turns 40 next month, was a youngster at Watford when Jackett was a coach at Vicarage Road.

He has been offered a year's contract as a player at Crystal Palace but is hoping for improved terms – and admits there is one offer to include an off-field role.

Phillips said: "My agent has been speaking to Palace and the chairman. There have been a few figures banded around but we are a bit apart on them.

"There are certainly different offers out there on the pitch and even off it for me, and at my age I'm certainly delighted to see these people expressing their interest.

"I do have offers elsewhere and, if I'm being honest, there is one real offer which I'm very, very tempted by."

And Phillips reckons he still won't have decided on his future by next week, when he becomes a free agent.

The veteran striker believes he needs "another two weeks" to rest.

He said: "Palace are back on Monday but if anything was to materialise with the club, I don't think it will happen by then."
