Hibernian not giving up on Wolves' Leigh Griffiths
Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon today claimed he has not given up on keeping Wolves striker Leigh Griffiths next season.
Griffiths was recently named as the Scottish Football Writers' player of the year after scoring 28 goals for Hibs during his loan spell but is set to return to Molineux in the summer.
Fenlon is desperate to keep the 22-year-old Scotland international but admits he is also looking at other options for next season.
The Hibs boss said: "I have spoken about Leigh's situation so many times. We are looking to strengthen the squad over the summer in a number of positions.
"We will only know how difficult it is to replace Leigh if we need to replace him. Maybe we can then answer that question at the end of next season."
Meanwhile, Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez insists there is no fears that they will 'do a Wolves' and get relegated in successive seasons.
The Latics lost their fight to stay in the top-flight, and while Martinez's own future remains in doubt – he has no doubt that the club will be the strongest in the Championship.
He said: "I don't fear that Wigan will disappear without trace because I know that we have the foundations.
"I'm not saying that we are stronger than Wolves. I don't know what they are doing internally.
"We are already working on next season and with or without me Wigan will bounce back. With the parachute money, we should be the strongest team in the Championship."
