The Molineux boss takes his side to Brighton today having been praying the team avoid the drop to League One.
"I've been praying for the last six weeks," said boss Saunders.
"My mother-in-law goes to church every Sunday, and she always texts me saying she says a prayer.
"She said if it doesn't work this Sunday, she's leaving the church! As if God cares about the result of a football match at Brighton! I think he's got bigger things on his plate."
Regardless of which division Wolves are playing in next season, Saunders is targeting a goalscorer with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake out until October.
"That's something I've got to address," said Saunders.
